"Wisconsin's Frontier Farm
Breweries 1830's - 1880's"
Wisconsin State Historical Museum on the Square - Madison
$2.00 suggested donation
When Wisconsin was still a territory, newly-arrived immigrants brought
with them their customs and traditions. One important custom,
especially for Germans, was how to brew beer. These early settlers soon
discovered that Wisconsin's landscape provided frontier farmers with all
the resources and ingredients needed to produce fine ale and lager beer.
Join author Wayne Kroll in taking a close look at a part of Wisconsin
history that has remained unknown until now. The presentation will
mainly cover what has recently been found at many farm/brewery sites
from the earliest settled areas of Wisconsin. The program promises to
present many surprises! Call 608-264-6555 for more information, or visit our website at
