Flags are brought forward to be placed on the dumpster. From what I understand, the dumpster has a layer of sand in the bottom to prevent the melted nylon from sticking, and a re-bar grate across the top to support the flags which was made and donated by Lasch Steel And Recycling. A large flag was draped across the dumpster most of the afternoon. Not sure what the significants to that is. My best guess, like on a casket to honor those who have served their country faithfully, a flag is draped to honor military personnel and government officials at the time of laying them to rest.
