Flags are neatly piled atop picnic tables in preparation of their preferred method of disposal in a dignified way. What we don't see here is how the flags were gathered. Preparations began early in the day. Pickup trucks were sent to the storage shed donated to the VFW for the purpose of stockpiling flags throughout the year. Flags are only destroyed on Flag Day. Several helpers draped the flags over the tables while attempting to keep them free of the ground. Fire fighters are assembling on the left while the commander begins the ceremony.
