Our community is better off when we take time to mentor people of all ages, especially a young person. Mentoring is one of the most powerful ways to combat the growing disconnection between people in our society. The consequences of divorce, single parenting, busy lifestyles and lifestyles in general, is of concern to child development during the "critical years." There are necessary non-academic life skills which are not taught in most schools today. This is due primarily to limited responsibility and the need to draw the line as to where parenting is to be the foremost guiding influence in child development. Memories, knowledge, experiences, and skills acquired during the critical years stick with us for years to come. Hopefully, they're positive in nature.

Mentoring is a community connection. Grand Quest, a variety of other organizations, and dedicated volunteer's hope to make a difference in the present, for the future, by helping others: develop a specific skill, pursue an interest, or learn about a subject, or just getting to know them and being their friend. Thousands of children, as well as adults in our community are eager to connect while taking advantage of opportunities which foster their individualism. Discover the benefits of mentoring. Here's how to get started. If you're unable to be a mentor at this time, here are 10 other ways you can support Mentoring.
