Spring, summer and fall is when most of us take advantage of many opportunities warmer weather provides. Biking, walks, picnics, hiking, fishing, dine-outs, shopping and site seeing in Door County...endless! There are hundreds of fun things to do, yet we all have our passions. Spending this time with others who enjoy the same things as you, often makes a typical activity into a memory that lasts a life-time! Oh, then there is winter......Burrrr. There are plenty of activities year-round to do indoors and out. Don't let the chill in the air stop you from warming up to a cup of hot coffee or cocoa, family and friends, while sharing your interests and passions in life with them. There is little as precious in life as is time invested with others!

What are iGroups and why?

iGroups are small groups of people with a deep passion and commitment to a specific activity and the people they share it with. iGroups are a great way to experience a purpose driven lifestyle by sharing your passions with others brought together by common interests.

The purpose of iGroups is to encourage and inspire others to participate in fun activities many of us take for granted. iGroups offer opportunities for personal growth and advancement through networking. Participants develop life-skills, character, and most importantly lasting relationships with family and friends.

iGroups hope is that participants experience contentment in most aspects of life through a process of learning; relating and sharing with others; and discovering how simply having some good clean fun is a way of giving a little of yourself for a greater purpose.

Who organizes & leads iGroups?

Grand Quest coordinates iGroups by maintaining a database of activities, details, active participants, and persons interested in being a part of an iGroup. It will be our responsibility to contact participants, setup and host an introduction meeting when enough participants respond to fulfill the purpose of the iGroup(s) chosen. During the meeting we'll ask for a volunteer to lead the iGroup to help make things go smoothly.

When and Where do iGroups Meet?

iGroups generally meet on a regular or seasonal basis. Participants involved work out the time, frequency, and location. Other factors to consider are demographic area, travel distance, type of activity and environment. Activities may occur any day of the week and may take place at: a lake, local coffee shops, restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, churches, dog-friendly spots, kid-friendly spots, homes, parks, and lots of other places.

Who can participate in iGroups?

Any adult, 18 or older, whether single or married. Youth age 17 and younger may participate in activities if accompanied by a parent. (see risks below)

Is this free?

Yes, iGroups is a free community service. However, there may be costs associated with particular activities that you'll incur. (i.e. meals, trail passes, equipment rental, supplies, ride share, admission fees etc.) Costs are typically known before an activity takes place.

Must I be proficient in the iGroup activity?

There are many people who want to learn and try new things. We encourage challenging yourself to embark on a new adventure, within reason. It would depend on the activity and your limitations, if any. Most people prefer others at their skill level but this should not be a discouragement as we encourage anyone who is proficient to share their skills and passions with others by being a mentor to those who aren't proficient, yet have a desire to learn. This is what metoring is all about and why it builds community. Should inexperience be a safety concern, the iGroup will host a workshop to provide you an opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience needed before you embark on your new adventure. We all have to learn and there is a starting point in every journey.

What risks are there?

The most important thing to remember is each participant is on their own. iGroup activities are not covered by insurance other than the coverage you carry personally or provided through an employer. The exception would be if the activity was held in an establishment that carries coverage.

There is always risks in all aspects of life. It's a fact we must accept and embrace if we wish to live content and worry-free. Give thanks to God for every new day and the opportunities each provide.

If you're participating in an activity that would suggest risk equal to or greater than walking down the street you should have self-provided insurance, including but not limited to; Health, Life, Auto, Personal Liability, and Home Owners or Renter's insurance with a provision to cover loss of recreational equipment. Use good sense and apply safety measures discussed at the introductory iGroup meeting. Refer to the individual web page (coming as groups form) for recommended safety measures each specific group should implement and enforce, as well as additional requirements and recommendations. A print copy will be mailed to participants getting involved after the introductory meeting and will include other tips as well.

Your Safety is Our First Concern!
